Civil Unions: A Distortion of God’s Family Design

“Civil unions are defined as a “civil partnership” or “registered partnership” that is legally recognized by government as ‘similar to marriage”

Homosexuals and Lesbians are not only pushing for marriage redefinition, but also to be recognized, alternatively, as a “civil union”, for the purpose being eligible for benefits usually given to a couple in a marriage between one man and one woman.

Many Christians who oppose marriage redefinition (so called same sex marriage) are now advocating civil unions, as it that is some kind of compromise they can live with- since is not “technically” the same thing as marriage.

I submit to the reader that endorsement of civil unions between two men and between two women is endorsement of what God calls an abomination (Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26, 27; I Corinthians 6:9).

However, while it is clear that, in obedience to God’s Word and will, I am compelled to reject civil unions between homosexuals/lesbians, I am just as compelled to reject civil unions between heterosexuals for the same reason.
God created man and woman to unite as one, in a marriage, to enter into a covenant relationship with one another and God- that they might carry out God’s plan of procreation and salvation for all mankind.

Furthermore, whenever the Bible mentions marriage, it is between a male and a female, the Word of God says a should man leave his parents and be united to a woman as his ‘wife”.

Not as his civil partner with no commitment before God.

When government sanctions a ‘civil union” between anyone not married to one another and grants them benefits generally reserved for a man and women who are married to one another, it is an act of defiance against God’s design of family- by both government and those who choose to live in so called civil unions.
God is always right, even when we have no interest in doing what is right.
I refuse to encourage civil unions between homosexuals and lesbians, for the same reason I refuse to encourage it between heterosexuals: civil unions are man’s way of living in sin and seeking validation of that sin.

To encourage civil unions, under any circumstance, is to help the lost to eternal damnation and a permanent separation from God- rather that leading them to reconciliation to God and the assurance of eternal life.

I see no wisdom or Biblical reasoning to support civil unions, regardless of what a pagan judge or elected official may say to the contrary. God’s design of family should not be distorted or tampered with by any level of state or federal government, no matter the cultural perversions and political pressure from an increasingly godless society.”

One Response to Civil Unions: A Distortion of God’s Family Design

I would say the Church already conceded this issue when they allowed the State to regulate marriage. After all, the pastor, priest, or judge says, “By the power invested in me by the State of Washington…” etc. Not by the power invested in them by God. And so, marriage now being a wholly-owned subsidiary of the state, must be applied equally to all citizens.
